Ahh… my EYES!

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Not much going on. Today is Amber last day in isolation, and we will able to visit with her today. She has been feeling off and on this whole week, but now that she started back on her normal medication she should be back and kicking at a normal pace soon.

For me it was a pretty good week got to spend lots of time with the kid and my parents. I have been having trouble getting my contact lens prescription filled. About three weeks ago I go a checkup and script for new contacts and glasses. I decided to wait a week, so I didn’t have to take money out of the savings, to purchase my contacts, since I had trial pair. Well wouldn’t you know it, with in 3 days I ripped both lenses, so I put on these jank glasses I broke in Cancun last year. I got online that day and ordered new ones up from VisionDirect. The price was right, and it said on there website that it would only take a few days to process since I faxed them a copy of my script, Tuesday the 8th of April.

Flash forward to 17th of April, contact lenses still still sitting in the processing qu at VisionDirect. So I say ok, my eyes are a little bad maybe they don’t have my lenses in stock, call them up, they tell me processing means they are waiting to fill my order.

With my contact lenses order in limbo at VisionDirect. I decided to try my hand at find cheap but nice glasses to wear around the house. I did the leg work and found a reputable site call Goggles4U. So I measured out my lenses to make sure I got a pair that fit my oval shaped head right and then placed my order. Two days later the 19th of April they shipped not bad for $25.99.

Again flash forward to yesterday the 23rd of April and my contact lenses are still sitting in VisionDirect’s processing limbo, thus I cancel my order never to do business with them again. I place a new order with the ContactLensKing who not only processed my order yesterday but also shipped it out, Amazing! So now I should have my new glasses today or tomorrow and new contacts sometime next week! Finally I will be able to see normally!

Every 2 Days

Friday, April 18th, 2008

My ass. I know that I haven’t kept my promise but I’m doing better. This past week I did change up my eating habits a little. This week I’m going to be incorporating a new wake up routine. Then next week I’ll change up one more piece.

The reason for the change to the wake up routine is mainly because I will have Kayley all week. Amber’s second dose of radiation came this week and she has to remain isolated for 7 days. I will have lots of daddy daughter time.

Reporting for dootie

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Heheh he said dootie.. Not much going on the past couple of days. As usual for Ohio, the weather went from, ahh it’s finally spring to, ahh I shouldn’t have put my winter jacket away yet. Although I did get to play alot of Call of Duty 4 this weekend, which i haven’t had the chance to do.

Speaking of dootie, we trying to get Kayley potty trained. but hasn’t been going that well. For being a very advanced 2 year old, she doesn’t have sense of urgency about going on the big girl potty.

Tonight for dinner, I made my special Mac’n Cheese. Here it goes, you’ll need:

  • Small Box Macaroni Noodles
  • 32oz Block of your favorite cheese
  • 2 tbps of butter (unsalted)
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp black ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  1. Preheat oven (bake) to 375 degrees
  2. Boil a small box of macaroni noodles to al dente
  3. While cooking noodles, dice half the block of cheese and place into medium size mixing bowl, with milk, butter and microwave or 3 to 4 minutes
  4. Add dry ingredients to cheese mixture and stir
  5. Place al dente noodles into oven safe container and pore cheese mixture over noodles and stir until the noodles are covered
  6. Cut thin slices from the remaining block of cheese and place on top, save remaining block for grilled cheese sandwiches
  7. Cover the dish and place in oven for 28 to 30 minutes

Into the Swing

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

I’m trying my best to make sure I blog as much as I can, about anything and everything. I’m also making an effort to take more photos even if it with the phone; which in all reality are not that bad. Maybe someday when I’m not that broke financially challenged I will buy a nice pocket camera to carry around.

Anyway, I went ahead an upload Kayley’s Easter photos from this year to the photo section of the site. You might also catch a few on the right hand side, depending on when you’re reading this. Also, yesterday afternoon, Amber, Kayley, and I put up Kayley’s swing. She enjoyed it.

That Time Again (Again)

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Seems like it must be the time of the year or something. I go though these phases where I think, gee-willigers it would be nice to blog more often, not that anyone is reading. Well damn it, I’m committing this time, although since no one reads I won’t have anyone to hold me to it, I’m going to blog at the very least every other day.

At first this may be a little bit random but I should have plenty to write about. I have making tons of, from scratch, food. Plus the are kinds of interesting things happening online a can rant about. I just need to find that groove.

Also check out the Google Picasa widget and digg RSS feeds I added. The Picasa widget gets 3 random photos form the latest, or chosen, galleries from our web albums. The digg RSS feed is just the last five stories, videos or pictures I found to be interesting on digg.com. So until next year around this time, no, no I will blog again this week!
